Wooden Car Toy
we were required to design and prototype a functionable wooden car toy using sourced pieces of solid wood.
Research
in this phase, we were required to images of cars that have inspired our very own design and gather them all together and put them on a board with all the relevant and required information.
Ideation
In phase, we were required to formulate ideas or concepts. The direction or rather what i was inspired by in my designs was futuristic, retro, vintage Lambo and jeep cars. i chose these designs because, firstly these type of designs aren't commonly seen in toy cars, especially wooden toy cars and simply because these are the the type of cars i love. i explored cars from the 80s,90s to modern cars.
Development
the changes i had on design firstly, the design from the left, i simply added stripes. The stripes were inspired by the idea of race cars. The second one from the left, not much was changed, i left it as is. The last design, i changed it into a pickup truck but still left the idea of a vintage Lambo look on it.

we were required to create mockups of our chosen design that illustrate just how the final outcome will look like.
Final Prototyping
The final prototyping of the design was an exciting experience, as it was my first working with all the machines we were using during the process of making our wooden toy .
First thing i did was sketch up shapes of my design on pieces of wood to help guide me as I'm cutting the pieces. i used a bandsaw to cut all the piece. at first using the bandsaw, in general all the machines, was a bit hard to maneuver around but eventually got a hold of it.
After i had all the pieces cut, sanding them was the next step. i used both the sanding machines and sand paper. sanding manually was more convenient for me personally, because i felt that i had more control over it then using sanding machines. i made a few couple of mistake as i was using the sanding machines.
and lastly were the wheels of the car and the details of it, the lights and wheel details.
