When i was creating the virtual yacht website I realized how purposeful lighting can make a sea of difference in 3d oriented projects! I wanted to be able to fit as much information as possible in a single view - luckily I was able to use some snippets from an old 3d slider project to achieve this.
I am such an old timer and ended up using Fireworks cs6 for Resume design yup! "Old" but seems to me to be a fantastic tool for some rapid prototyping: I was able to compress the pages into one scene - i deliberately designed the 4 "page" face setup to keep the face which was facing away from the sun Deliberately dark! so that the flash light effect would be more defined.
If you look at the scene from the top view you will see spot light -illuminate specific areas of the scene depending on how you move your mouse , this gives it an effect that's kind of scary if you decide to end up placing the flash light effect in a pitch black scene !
If you zoom in the light focuses on a smaller area, if you zoom out the light gets larger and covers a larger surface area.
