Harding Oil is inspired by the infamous Teapot Dome scandal, which involved the 29th United States president, Warren G. Harding.  In said scandal, President Harding issued an executive order to transfer oil from private reservoirs in Natrona County, Wyoming, to the Department of the Interior.
