Postage Stamps: Paws With A Cause

Postage Stamps: Paws With A Cause
For this project, I was tasked with designing four connecting postage stamps for a non-profit of my choosing. I selected Paws With A Cause, a organization that seeks to better the lives of others through the training of specialized service dogs. I chose this place because I admire the life changing services that they help provide through their service dogs.

Thumbnail Sketches:
To start, I made twenty-four thumbnail sketches with two themes for the postage stamps. The two themes I chose were 'Collars' and 'Paw Prints'. This is because I thought both these themes would be a good base for different, but connecting, postage stamp designs. The ones that I ended up choosing were numbers 3, 4, 9, and 1 from the 'Paw Prints' category. I chose these because they not only best represented Paws With A Cause, but also clearly connected to each other through their repeated elements of paws and hearts.

Final Postage Stamps:
When creating my designs with vector graphics, I specifically chose to make all heart elements red, and all paw elements a calming blue. This is because I thought they stood out against each other without being too distracting. Also, red is a common way to color heart images. Lastly, I added the name of my cause, 'USA', and 'FOREVER' to the design to complete the postage stamp look. Then, I added the stamp boarders to complete the look of the postage stamps.
