Puffin Circus Product Development & Repeat Patterns

Product development & repeat patterns
I'm inspired by the world around me and in my home town of Ilfracombe in Devon, we are surrounded by nature and the sea. These cute puffins form part of a planned series of seabird illustrations.

Initially, I set out in Illustrator to create a set of three puffins that I could develop into colourful laser cut and etched wall plaques to make on my new diode laser. During the illustration process, I created additional elements to give my puffins a landscape to live in, which got me thinking about fabric patterns. So, I began exploring the process of making repeat patterns in Illustrator, more complex than it sounds – but totally fun to learn. Now I plan on turning my puffin patterns on fabric for furnishings too.

As you can see, the project grew beyond the original self-led brief and I found myself going down yet another creative path – an online shop. I now had to create product listings. So, I generated a series of product and lifestyle images using Photoshop and Illustrator to give the online customer a good experience and representation of my products. Seeing a product in the real world, without the event of a real photoshoot, means a customer can more easily visualise my puffins in their own home.

If you love my puffins as much as I do, they are available to purchase as a set on my online home decor and gift shop loverosie.com
