Client Brief
The organizers of the first annual Pacific Northwest Spoon Bash commissioned a logo design for t-shirts and stickers. The artwork needed to commemorate the inaugural event by including the date and location, as well as representing the event’s activities. Spoon Bash is a yearly weekend-long gathering of wooden spoon carvers with a focus on skill-sharing demos and workshops.

Concept
As this year’s event took place in a forested state park, Spoon Bash’s visual identity evokes the aesthetics of U.S. national park signs and badges. To capture the essence of the 'bash' in Spoon Bash, a fun twist was introduced to the traditional process of crafting spoons from fresh wood, which begins with a mallet bashing an axe to skillfully split a log with greater force. In this illustration, fully formed spoons magically fall from the split log after a single hit. All shirts were printed locally with water-based inks using discharge screenprinting.
