Client Brief
Resonate, a new quarterly print music magazine spun off from NME Magazine, caters to music enthusiasts interested in thoughtful, in-depth exploration of music history, theory, and process. A masthead, cover layout, and collaged images were needed for the first two issues, in addition to the page layout and typesetting for a featured Music & Culture article.

Concept
This issue of Resonate magazine highlighted music aesthetics with a focus on punk rock’s legacy. The genre, known for its hard-edged and non-conformist qualities, influenced the bold visual elements and typography. Punk album covers and show flyers often picture defaced images of wholesome scenes or authority figures, aiming to provoke viewers or convey political messages. The punk aesthetic also influenced the black and white color palette, with one striking accent color per cover.
