Portraits of flowers, intended to be more evocative than detailed or descriptive. I particularly enjoy looking for flowers which, rather than 'withered', I like to think of as 'weathered'. While flowers just bought from a shop can often look identical to one another (at least at first glance), exposure to the elements makes each of them change over time in unique ways, a kind of wabi sabi if you will.

Illustrations of flowers are a comparatively recent project, which follows a longer running interest in macro photography. Drawing flowers and taking close-up photographs balance eachother somewhat. Whereas in illustrations I enjoy taking a more minimalist approach, through macro photography the intricate details of the flowers are exhalted.
