Various Pottery (2023)
At Marshall University in the spring of 2023, I took a pottery class and I have decided to display some of what I created here on my Behance Portfolio to show some different things regarding art that I can do and show off some of my skills that I learned during my time at Marshall.
Here are some various cups, bowls, plates, etc that are in the greenware stage and have not been bisque-fired or glazed and finished-fired. That is a big part of what we learned in the course is the process of clay and the different dry states that they will be in. For example, there is wet clay, greenware-stage (slightly dried), bone dry, bisque-fired, glazed, and finish-fired. This course was very challenging for me as I hadn't worked too much with clay before and I really struggled throwing clay on the wheel at first, but I started getting the hang of it and ended up loving it in the end.
Here are some of my finished pieces of pottery. My favorite project was particularly the breakfast set that I created (the smiling egg plate, and the salt and pepper shakers. I really enjoyed getting to work with the glazes and being super fun and creative with that last project.
