This project encapsulates the learnings of CAD software in jacquard fabric design from the beginning through a series of conceptual projects completed as classroom assignments. The progression of each collection demonstrates the increasing complexity and difficult designs undertaken for better comprehension.
The project's goal is to highlight technical skills, so the design process is not heavily emphasized.
Project - I : Replicating existing design using manual Jacquard design techniques
The objective was to reproduce an existing seamless design pattern onto an appropriate paper technical sheet for the purpose of generating punch cards utilized in the fabric development process.
The next step was to recreate the same design in the CAD software (Pointcarre) and find a suitable application.
Project - II : Creating original artworks and simulating them as Jacquard fabrics in CAD software
In this project the objective was to create digital art works using appropriate file sizes and converting them into technical sheets in CAD as well as simulating the designs to understand the overall look of the fabric
Project - III : Creating original artworks and simulating them as Jacquard fabrics using as many colors as possible
Given that double-layer jacquard fabrics can only use four colours at once and that the remaining shades must be created by combining two different colours, the challenge was to create a design that could aesthetically incorporate up to six colours using creative combinations of the four basic hues.
