For this assignment, our aim was to add considerably new artistic value to a subject through application of color, creative mark making, and composition. We used Adobe Illustrator. We chose a photo reference and drew over it with different color approaches, brushes, and styles. Four color approaches were used: split complementary, monochrome, complementary, and tetrad.
This is the split complementary art piece. I used a more plant like brush and added a tropical feel.
This is the monochrome art piece. I used more clean looking brushes to have a smooth feel.
This is the complementary art piece. I exaggerated the reds and greens with neon colors, allowing the fruit to pop. The brushes have more of a "messy" and "fun" feel.
Lastly, this is the tetrad art piece. I used a splattered brush to give it character. The blue pops out of the pale orange background nicely.
