This was the first large-scale character work I attempted while learning ZBrush a few years ago. This cargo robot may look harmless, but bear in mind he's 12 feet tall and lately has been reading a book entitled "Finding Your Inner Galactic Tyrant".
The original design for the robot was from a sketch created in Alchemy, a (now seemly dormant) open-source sketching program that everyone should try. It allows you to apply varying kinds of randomness to a sketch, so as to maximize the chances of happy accidents. Doodling in Alchemy is like mainlining inspiration.
