Azul: A Study on Sky and Sea

Azul: A Study on Sky and Sea
Inspired by Mesomerican forms and the beautiful music of the land, this set includes stunning geometric artwork, stickers, and a soundtrack that will have you ready for the beach, a marg, and a beat.
If you know anything about me then you know I love to take everything and crank it up to 11! I was working on a playlist for my friends and I for our cruise vacation and it turned into artwork, stickers, and an awesome selection of songs and artists. For the visual aspect I focused on the use of two main blues, a Maya Blue and Prussian Blue. With these simple colors to represent my sky and sea, all that was left was to give way to the natural cool greens and radiant magenta-orange of the land and sun.
Time lapse of the making of the Map artwork, both in its atlas-inspired Light colorway and its cyanotype-inspired Dark version.
The music (as with anything in life, really) was half of the fun for me. I took to far flung playlists and the top charts of some of the smaller cities and countries we'd be visiting on our route and I found some interesting things. Although located in Latin America, the top charts for Belize often included African music (a particular love of mine), and Central America seems taken by Caribbean dancehall as a whole. With such a diverse range of music echoing across the peninsula, this list is sure to please the locals and the tourists alike.

The sun as extracted from the Azul artwork, color tuned to present cyanotype blue in the shadows with a striking lunar grey and white treatment in the mid and highlights. I love this in its full resolution here with its heavy grain and texture.
