Conceptual Design Idea (Judith Joy Ross Exhibition)

Conceptual design ideas that didn't make the cut.
Dorrance Gallery - Schematic Idea for Judith Joy Ross Photography Exhibition

This schematic idea was one that was inspired by the idea of close looking. Judith Joy Ross's portraits were intimate in both subject matter and scale. The small scale of the photos posed a challenge, particularly in the portion of the gallery with higher ceilings. The idea of this conceptual design was to help define groupings relating to different themes in Judith's work. I brought some of the walls down visually in the high space by exposing the structure. I also created smaller "cubes" within the larger context of the gallery. The cubes were meant to encourage close looking and create a quite space for contemplation.
