An illustration for 'Little Leap Forward' by Guo Yue. (Barefoot Books). I took a trip to the local Chinese paper shop round the corner from my studio for this one, sketched the brush stands and boxes for inspiration and bought samples of Chinese paper for collage. I had a chat with the Chinese proprietor there who told me harrowing stories of her family during the great famine at the time of the Great Leap Forward in China.
