At the top is the original submitted illustration, then below that is the edited version that went to print. It felt like a bold move to leave all of the door and the background the same colour, but Paul DiMattia knows what he's doing and once the type treatment was applied and it was put into the spread, it worked so much better than the original high contrast version would have.
