Dish Sleepers Ep. 2 - Organic Eye Covers

Not every pair of eyes can appreciate the poeticity of fresh ingredients. The person I am drawing this for undoubtedly, ceaselessly, and wholeheartedly does. As a full-time mother, cat-person, and home cook, she is captain of the ship, her dishes brimming with unending warmth and tenderness. The domestic life are many things, but her vow to her family's happiness takes the shape of hearty lunches and dinners. As somebody who is verbally awkward, I infused the appropriate genre of affection in these drawings as a token of appreciation for a mother's craft.
Dish Sleepers, Episode 2
Organic Eye Covers

"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Caka would never know, as his snout is buried a little too comfortably underneath the spinach leaves. A warm, comforting scent is brewing nearby, and once again he is left to wonder, is it chicken soup? Is it beef stew? How long has he been asleep? What is he sleeping on? Who put him there? What's on his belly? Before he has the chance to find out, the tender caress of the leaves quickly lulls him back to his slumber..."
Dish Sleepers are prints designed as complementary cards to a ceramic plate set, as a birthday gift to a very particular mother figure—starring her feline companions, siblings Biu, Caka, and Meo. Despite the series comically portraying them entangling themselves with the ingredients, they are actually the well-mannered type, mindfully steering clear of the dining table and the kitchen counter, perhaps even sharing her sentiment on food and spices.

May she forever be as high-spirited as her dishes are nutritious. Happy birthday.
