Spine Splitter
I decided to build this project because I like to read and have lots of books in my dorm room and I am running out of room storing them. I saw multiple different versions of a project like this on Pinterest but decided on this one to put the book I am currently reading and the next ones I plan to read.. To build this, I used common board scraps from my previous projects.
The first step of this project was to use the chop saw to cut out three 5.5in X 5.5in pieces for the base and roof. Then cut one 5.5in X 13in piece for the backing and use the band saw to cut the top at an angle for the roof to sit on.
Next, I took the roof pieces and sand them down to make an acute angle and then glued them together. I also took the base piece and glued it to the bottom of the backing piece to allow it to stand up flush.
Finally, I glued the roof onto the top of the backing piece and used a brad nail gun to secure all of the pieces. I also decided to stain the wood a light brown color for aesthetic appeal.
