Every 8 Minutes Campaign

As the Media and Communications Manager at Worldwide Documentaries, I assisted in the planning and launch of Every 8 Minutes, a campaign to raise awareness of modern-day slavery. The campaign was devised by iPartner India, a UK-based NGO working on the ground to bring about positive change in India. Every 8 Minutes was inspired by the film, Not My Life, and was launched in conjunction with the film's broadcast on Doordarshan, India's public television network, in the summer of 2014. The broadcast was seen by 460 million viewers.
 
I was responsible for writing copy, designing the layout, and creating graphics for the Every 8 Minutes campaign website.
 
This website as it appears above was published at http://every8minutes.org. The site acted as an important source of information for the 460 million Indians who tuned in to watch Not My Life on June 29, 2014. In the Fall of 2014, the Every Minutes website was re-designed by iPartner India to coordinate with the organization's own on-the-ground efforts to combat human trafficking. 
 
 
I promoted the Every 8 Minutes campaign on Not My Life's Twitter page. We utilized the hashtag #Every8Minutes in both social media and promotional videos to help start a conversation about the campaign.
 
 
I also worked to spread the word about Every 8 Minutes through the Not My Life Facebook page.
 
 
I created this campaign graphic in Photoshop for use on Not My Life's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
 
 
This is a press kit I created for Not My Life's broadcast on Doordarshan. I was responsible for layout, content, copyediting, and distribution. The press kit was distributed to over 200 news and media outlets at a press event preceding the broadcast. As a result, our press release, included below, was picked up by over 20 of India's most prominent news outlets.
