Riflessa consists of a reclaimed tree branch that was hand processed by removing the bark, engraving channels and inlaying metal wire through the whole unit. These inlays are used to bring electricity to 6 carefully located light modules. Holding the base of the chandelier, rolled aluminum pieces are riveted together to create an adjustable base. Reflective leaves are thoughtfully added and used to create a composition of soft and hard shadows, indirect lights and reflections throughout the entire room.
The aim of the design concept was to bring natural elements into the living space, creating a calming effect and adding a character of playfulness into traditional architecture. Inspiration was served by the reflection of water ponds and streams onto the mountain sides, the shadows created from continued layering of tree branches, and even the insects that help the natural life cycle of the forest.
Each one of these elements was used to create a chandelier able to change the rooms’ atmosphere, framing the natural life cycle in a cohesion of beauty and decay.
