Chinese Cough Syrup Packaging

Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa is a Chinese herbal cough syrup that has made a name for itself in the Chinese community because it is effective in relieving coughs, sore throat, etc. and even tastes good. Currently sold in Asian grocery stores and at the Asian section of some big retailers in Canada, this product subsists on brand loyalty and recommendations by people to family and friends which at times becomes something used by generations of families.

There have never been any advertising for this product in North America making it hard to reach anyone who is not of the Asian community. Although the packaging has English on it and good enough for its current market, is dated and overwhelming, making it seem unwelcoming to non-users.

To address this, I redesigned the packaging to appeal to the current market. I updated its design while still keeping true to its history and maintaining the essence of the traditional design. The packaging was designed to have accomodate Chinese, English, and French text in an attempt to maintain what is familiar to loyal consumers while also making it accessible to people who cannot read in Chinese and keeping to current Canadian packaging regulations.
