Savory memories from Józsefváros
The eighth district is one of the most divisive and colorful district of Budapest, this area is called historically Józsefváros. Its quarters live rich and poor residents, with an exciting and interesting past and present. In order to understand this world, I interviewed sixteen people who shared stories with me, told me about their experiences and gastronomic connection they have to the district.
My goal was to collect taste memories along with the stories. A scent evokes memories in us, and tastes can do the same immediately. I present these taste memories to the reader so you can also get a taste of the eighth district.
As I already mentioned, you can only get to know this part of the city if you really look deep inside. Therefore, the plates did not include traditional food photos, but a microscopic image of the raw material. In addition to the photos that evoke the ingredients of the food, there are also pictures that provide interesting impressions of the past, present and future, as I see the eighth district. The microscopic food photos, the linocut patterns inspired by the photos , the personalized plates and the pictures of life form visual metaphors on the pages.

Józsefvárosi ízemlékek
Budapest egyik legmegosztóbb és színesebb kerülete a nyolcadik kerület, amelynek történelmi elnevezése Józsefváros. A negyedei között megtalálhatóak gazdagabbak és szegényebbek, izgalmas és érdekes múlttal, jelennel. Ahhoz, hogy megértsük ezt a világot, tizenhat emberrel készítettem interjút, akik történeteket osztottak meg velem, meséltek élményeikről és arról, hogy milyen gasztronómiai kötődésük van a kerülethez.
A célom az volt, hogy a történetek mellé ízemlékeket is gyűjtsek. Egy illat azonnal emlékeket hív elő belőlünk, ugyanerre képesek az ízek is. Ezeket az ízemlékeket mutatom be az olvasónak, hogy így ő is ízelítőt kapjon, megkóstolhassa a nyolcadik kerületet.
Mint már említettem, csak úgy lehet megismerni ezt a városrészt, ha igazán a mélyére tekintünk. Ezért a tányérokba nem hagyományos ételfotók kerültek, hanem valamelyik alapanyag mikroszkópikus képe. Az étel hozzávalóit felidéző fotók mellett olyan képek is magtalálhatóak, amelyek érdekes korlenyomatok a múltról, jelenről és jövőről, ahogy és amilyennek én látom a nyolcadik kerületet. A mikroszkopikus ételfotók, az ezek inspirálta linómetszet minták, a személyre szabott tányérok és az életképek vizuális metaforákat alkotnak az oldalpárok.
