A product collection incorporating the age old Mysore rosewood inlay craft. Designed to depict surreal humor in tableware. The collection presents something as relatable as discovering insects in food in a way that it is unpredictable and is an expression of non-sense. It includes contemporary elements to build expectations and then proceeding to knock them down.

The brief was to bring newness to the traditional craft.

A product collection incorporating the age old Mysore rosewood inlay craft while bringing newness. Designed to depict surreal humor in tableware. The collection presents something as relatable as discovering insects in food in a way that it is unpredictable and is an expression of non-sense. It includes contemporary elements to build expectations and then proceeding to knock them down.
The surreal humor incorporated is a result of an unusual life situation, where the presence of something that is detested by the user- in this case insects found at the bottom of the utensil or insects served next to the meal becomes inappropriate and out of  sync and this shift creates the reaction.
