I was contacted by BOOM! Studios to illustrate two variant covers for The Amazing World of Gumball, a new ongoing comic book series based on the show of the same name.

 

The animated television series, created by Ben Bocquelet, first aired on Cartoon Network on May 2011and is now in its third season. The ongoing comic book debuted June of 2014.

Bocquelet based several of the series' characters on rejected characters from his previous commercial work, bringing a variety of looks to the cast. I tried to recreate the look of the show in my covers, combining photographic backgrounds, flat colored characters, and 3D modeled characters.
