Can you improve construction site safety while increasing productivity?

Falls from height in domestic construction is a major problem. Compounding issues such as safe work methods, site efficiency, human resources, behaviours and sustainability (environmental and workforce). Site efficiency brings financial benefits to the contractors so that safety becomes an attractive option.

INTAKS often witnessed sites using systems that are unable to encourage safe work practices for all trades. They considered how they were operating around building sites, erecting strong commercial grade scaffold around a house merely to support relatively light weight work activities. This structure would be an access obstacle to other trades on the site.

The concept is a simple one. Brackets are fitted to the building thereby utilising the structure to support a lightweight access system, the brackets can remain in the building to be accessed in the future for maintenance allowing the same system to be re-erected.

INTAKS is convenient to deliver to site, economical, versatile in its application and provides productivity and efficiency for all trades.

The Aluminium system is 80% lighter than traditional scaffold. This eliminates heavy repetitive lifting and handling resulting in the long-term productivity of staff.
Scaffolders are reaching their endurance limit at middle age, using INTAKS lightweight system they can easily continue to work through to retirement.

The lightness of the systems promotes safe work practice by reducing risk to the installer during the installation and dismantling process.

The system is designed to fold for convenience. It encourages safe handling from transport to the site and return for storage. It is quick to manoeuvre around the building site and reconfigure during different stages of the construction project.

Supplying INTAKS to approx 200 sites per month, INTAKS has become a successful revolutionary system. It provides roof edge protection and platform systems that have multiple applications and configurations for all trades to access a wide variety of building sites.

The feedback received from tradesmen and users of the system is that INTAKS far exceeds what they perceived a site access system could provide.

The innovation of the INTAKS system is recognized via the five registered patents and four design registrations.

In April 2014 INTAKS won Best Design Innovation for a safety product in the workplace at the 10th Annual Safeguard New Zealand Health and Safety Awards.
