Winter Equestrian: First Snow in Upstate New York

ABOUT THE SHOOT

In this captivating photography project, I had the unique opportunity to document the serene beauty of a winter's day in Upstate New York, centered around a majestic 2-year-old Morgan horse. This project was not just a photographic journey but a personal one, as the horse belongs to my wife. The first real snowfall of the season set the stage, creating a pristine, almost magical backdrop for our equine subject. Despite the brisk cold, the day was filled with joy and excitement. However, it wasn't without its challenges. The young Morgan, experiencing snow in such abundance for the first time, showed a mix of wonder and frustration, especially during lunging exercises. These moments, capturing the horse’s playful spirit and occasional stubbornness, added a dynamic and authentic feel to the shoot. The contrast between the horse's dark coat and the white snow created stunning visuals, highlighting the elegance and strength inherent in these magnificent animals.
