Climb 9
Hi everyone,
This past weekend I completed filming 5 interviews in Tampa. Filming the interviews was a big accomplishment but I definitely ran into some hurdles during it. Firstly the production took longer than expected. One of the reasons being the camera battery would die and even on the breaks would not charge enough to last causing more breaks to be put in place. Another factor was one of the talent with the first morning slot did not show up until later due to a personal matter which delayed the filming as well.  I did have another candidate ready to take her place so I was able to film without her. A bump that I know to prepare for my next set of filming is to have an external drive with me and an additional sd card as during the filming I ran out of storage on first the sd card and then later my laptop when I went to transfer some off of it. Regardless the time to transfer took additional time and ultimately I could only delete a certain amount so I had to be very intentional with the last 8 minutes of film I had. Because of this, some of the first interviews did cut off visually at certain parts but I still have the audio sections. Since I recorded them separately, and gathered a lot of media, I have to sync up and filter the audio which will be a big but important task.  Because of that my rough cut has the instrumentals I clipped and remixed that I want to use for the title and end title scene but no dialogue yet. I mostly focused on sorting through the video clips by reading the candidates lips for important more eloquent and emotional shots. Some input I would like from you guys is about my end title sequence. I wanted my title sequence to be images of women, who are eldest daughters and consented to having their picture used, that come together to make the title.  I wanted this to be the grand ending to tie up the film which is why the music at the end is a little dramatic. My question for everyone is if that is better at the end as I wanted to do a more simple title in the beginning or even no title and just jump into the documentary with an attention grabbing line. Between the 3 options do you like 1) subtle title scene starts film, 2) attention grabbing line/visual first and then flash to subtle title scene while then continuing back into story, 3) not including a title in the beginning since it will show it in the end and just jump into the film.
Climb 11
Hi everyone,
Right before spring break I completed filming 5 interviews in Tampa. Filming went well but I ran into some hurdles that have expanded my post production process. So far I made my rough cut and have been working on sorting through the footage and audio clips to sync them. Because most of this work is sorting through big footage files I don't have anything new to upload yet.  Since I recorded them separately, and gathered a lot of media, I have to sync up and filter the audio which will be a big but important task.  Because of that my current rough cut has the instrumentals I clipped and remixed that I want to use for the title and end title scene but no dialogue yet as I sort through and decide which ones are more important to have. I mostly focused on sorting through the video clips by reading the candidates lips for important more eloquent and emotional shots. In addition, I have been working with a composer to make a soundtrack for the middle part of the audio that can be subtle so the dialogue can be focused on. Lastly, I have been working on scheduling my next interviews and preparing for filming those. This is not a huge priority right now since I do have a lot of footage already but I would like to have more I can rely on and to get a widened perspective. There is especially one candidate I want to interview still who has the perspective of being the eldest daughter but not the eldest child

Climb 12

In climb 12 I have continued to work on sorting through my footage and audio for important clips I would like to use which takes a majority of my time and is quite a stressful tedious process. I don't have much to show for a finished product of that sorting process outside of my rough cut from before as I am gathering and deciding the final clips I want to use and searching for the audio to sync it. Since this process is quite overwhelming, I have taken a break from it to work on my branding. I have been redoing my logo and have a couple possible options and iterations with different color choices which I would love to get feedback on. In addition, I want to make a t-shirt for convergence advertising my documentary and my brand which is also why finalizing the new logo would be nice. I realized my old logo was not compatible with the color scheme and aesthetic of the shirt designs I came up with. I would love feedback on both the logo and shirt designs! I will attach a few of my favorites below that I've slightly narrowed down to for both the shirt design and logos

Some but not all the logo mock ups:

Let me know which one you guys prefer! My issue currently is that I really like the look of the black shirt but my favorite logo is the first one I attached here under the logos. The white background logos however don't work with a black shirt which is why I have the inverse coloring as well. I also want to put a call to action to my portfolio on the shirt as well like with a QR code but I want the shirts to be something that users and myself would enjoy wearing. I am planning to raffle one of the shirts or do an instagram giveaway since producing the shirts are expensive, the rest I would like to sell and give to the participants of the documentary as a token of thanks! I find this important because I am into fashion ( it doesn't look like it at school LOL) and I sew as well often thrift flipping and sewing my own designs so in the future I would like to combine and create a fashion brand with my digital story telling and design skills that empower POC women like myself and look good on everyone while also focusing on causes I care about such as sustainability and representation.
