CONNECTION
Connection is a short publication created to explore my relationship with my mother-in-law. It follows the story of trying to connect despite a language barrier and cultural differences. Through the entire book, the design progresses from distance and cold to closeness and warmth. Throughout the entire publication, the story is written in both English and Spanish. I wanted the narrative to represent both sides of our experience. I wrote the publication myself after writing up my own story and then interviewing my mother-in-law on hers.
I was responsible for the creation of this publication from start to finish. The process included brainstorming topics, storyboarding, preliminary designs, interviewing my mother-inlaw, transcribing and translating, writing the content, creating the final design, and printing.
