Shimon Haber - Private House

In his city courtyard in New York based design studio Shimon Haber has fitted his atelier and house. The two storey house is covered in thermical coating creating homogeneous building with low level of  details. To bring on front the 'lively ffect of the material, Shimon Haber has chosen to use pale colors mainly shades of brown. Design shows Shimon Haber's intension of having no surrounding buildings and thus lack of any other colors except the green from the grass. To Shimon Haber this stresses the human need of private misery. The brown color does not hurt eyes but accordinf to the designer it injures the mind. The interior is another story...
Designer Shimon Haber.
This is the area for day stay – watching movies, listening music or reading books. The lightening is well conducted and the ambient is warm. This place was originally designed for serving as a small cinema where people can enjoy watching films on the big screen. Shimon Haber designed this following the guidance of his client, a German chemist Fritz and his wife Clara. In the time of designing it, new materials were used which were accepted by the client with reminder of the budget. The decoration of the interior took place in just three weeks in June 2005 with elements mostly found in and around New York City.
This project has gathered several awards from various festivals.
