Illustration Within Design
For this project we were tasked with creating an illustration which could be used in an editorial piece which is based on either; climate change, fast fashion or food sustainability.
The illustration that I created is supposed to represent the how deforestation is slowing killing the Earth. To show this I have illustrated a forest but in the shape of lungs. I have chosen to illustrate this forest as a pair of lungs as I believe that it would give people a better understanding of what we are doing to the earth if it is shown to be happening on something as important as lungs.
I also chose lungs as tree provide us with oxygen and the more trees that are cut down, the less oxygen there is being produced.
To create this newspaper style design I researched what the common layout of a newspaper article is and tried to recreate it, with my illustration in the top right hand corner and two of the main colours that are used in my illustration also present in this layout. For the text in this design I have used an article about deforestation from National Geographic.
