Sunshine Lanes, among the few bowling alleys in Springfield, MO, has a rich history dating back to its opening in August 1960 as Sherm Lollar Lanes, owned by the MLB player Sherm Lollar himself. In 1993, the current ownership took the reins and rebranded it as Sunshine Lanes.

After observing Sunshine Lanes branding needs, I took on the challenge of revamping their logo, menu, website, and social media. The logo redesign draws inspiration from retro and vintage aesthetics. By combining a script font with a bold sans-serif for the wordmark, I introduced a dynamic contrast to the overall design. The abstracted bowling ball and pin elements cleverly play with the sun motif, weaving in a subtle nod to the business’s name. The overarching goal was to infuse the new visual identity with nostalgic fun, echoing the vibrancy and enjoyment synonymous with Sunshine Lanes bowling alley.
