Animated Advent Calendar
1st December – 25th December 2023
Immersive exhibition in Leipzig, Amsterdam, London, and Atlanta featuring animated illustrations from illustrators and animators from around the world.
The exhibition shows 25 doors representing the days of the month counting down to Christmas Day. Using the free Artivive app, the doors can be opened in Augmented Reality to reveal animated illustrations and music from nearly 50 artists and sound designers from around the globe.
Each day of December, the corresponding AR experience will be posted on instagram.com/ar_advent along with the artist’s bio and link to their profiles. In addition, there are large-scale, physical installations in cities across the world, including, Atlanta (Westside Paper), Leipzig (Westwerk), London (McCann London), and Amsterdam (De Hallen). Visitors can interact with all 25 doors on any day of their visit.

Artists were encouraged to interpret the topic of Christmas and the holidays broadly and to be appropriate and engaging for all audiences – from kids to adults. The project is about showcasing contemporary design and illustration, strengthening our creative networks, and introducing artists to the fun of creating AR artwork.
Along with the exhibition a poster was printed in DIN A2 size to give all the participants the possibility of the Augmented Reality experience without visiting the exhibition in situ.
