Product Photography: Schmetz needles

For our Photography II class we were given the task of creating two stylized photos of a product. I chose Schmetz microtex sewing machine needles. I wanted to show the specific fabrics these needles are meant to be used on. They solve the problem of delicate and hard to sew fabrics getting snagged by larger diameter needles. I thought polyester satin especially would catch the attention of home sewists. This is a common tricky fabric used by beginner sewists because of its low cost, wide availability, and fancy look.
This brand color codes their needles by type (green is for microtex). The color of this satin is very close to the color used for their ballpoint needles, so I changed it to green in editing in the close up shot. I changed it to a grayish color in the second photo so the package would stand out against the background. The unedited photos are below.
