The Stuff of a Dream (Rüyanın Maddesi)

The topic of “The Stuff of a Dream” is about the people who are banned from going out in 2080 because of their incapability of coping epidemic diseases. They can experience the outside world only with their digital copies. These copies are responsible of transmitting signals of five senses to their owner thus the person can see, hear, feel the touch, taste and smell. All the activities are monitored by the ruling powers. Administrators have a profile of each user in the database and can access everyone's personal information. By examining the density of activity in the region, the needs and demands of people who spend time in that area are evaluated and the spaces are constantly updated to meet them. The architects of the cities have been the desires of people.

Taksim Square has experienced many changes from past to present. The Republic Monument is the initial point of making turn this area into a square. The socio-cultural structures that have been erected around the square are considered as landmarks. The current situation of Taksim Square is that it remains as an empty space, disconnected from its surroundings. In this context, interventions have been made to enable people to spend time in Taksim Square and increase the use of Gezi Park. Considering the importance of the Atatürk Cultural Center around it, Taksim Square is transformed into a culture and art center. For this reason, by not interfering with any of the surrounding buildings, the gaps are utilized and areas where street artists, painters and exhibitions are located are created. Rather than attempting a physical intervention, the question of "How can people play a role in forming the square when given the opportunity?" was tried to be brought to the agenda.
