02 | Editorial design: Narrative and curatorial photography
Project brief
This project entailed meticulously crafting a set of five greyscale photographs, comprising three documentary-style photographs and two photographs showcasing the artistry of fashion. The collection had to be centred around a specific element, be it line, shape, texture, form, or pattern, with each photograph embodying the chosen trait. The task was to curate a series of photographs that may have initially seemed disparate and random, but with a closer inspection would reveal a subtle interconnection, as they shared similar traits or wove a cohesive storyline.
Deliverables
01. A collection of five greyscale images, made up of three documentary photographs and two fashion photos
Design strategy
When approaching this photography project, my inspiration drew heavily from documentary photographs that showcased a rich interplay of texture, pattern, and shape. The essence of the documentary photographs played a pivotal role in informing the selection of fashion-orientated photographs. The overarching objective was to encapsulate a distinct sense of movement and form, intertwining textures and line across each photograph in a curated conversation. The fabrics in both the documentary and fashion shots create a sense of opulence and candidness. Together, the five photographs harmoniously convey a theme of repeated shapes, textures, line and patterns, creating a visual dialogue that binds them together.

The final fashion photographs
The final curation
The interplay between the rugged charm of the documentary photographs and the velvety smoothness of the fashion shots weaves an intriguing tapestry of mystery, inviting viewers to step into the abstract narrative.
