A short video essay: Shangumukham
This is a small personal project. I am a native of Trivandrum, and like most locals of Trivandrum, the Shangumukham beach holds a special place in my heart. I grew up with this beach near me especially during my college years. Although for the past few years, the water has been rising severely and the beach is sinking.
Recently I visited and I realised that its getting too late and I shot few clips of the beach right away just to keep it for myself. I went and took few shots the next day too and decided to compile them.
Even if the beach is sinking, Shangumukham is as lively as ever with the locals as well as the visitors.
The revamped coffee house to the old palace converted to a furniture shop,
The kalmandapam and the children's park,
The statue of the mermaid,
Shanghumukhi temple,
Flights landing and taking off in the sky,
Beautiful lights from the kiosks of the street sellers,
Bubbles, bubbles and lots of bubbles
Decorating the visual canvas of Shangumukham.
