Inked, Design Studio Project
For this project, we were asked to design a coworking space for space matrix. I decided to target neglected artists such as tattoo artists, graffiti artists and doodlers. This is because I find that their works are not getting acknowledged enough and are always looked at negatively. Hence, I wanted to design a platform that enables them to be able to showcase their works. There would be a learning studio for each activity which will then allow outsiders to come in and understand the process of how the designs come about. Thus, I was inspired by the word healing that kept appearing during my research on these artists. Tattooing can be seen as a form of healing as one might find that it allows them to cope better after tattooing a loved one's initials after their death as it will feel like they are by their side everyday. Similarly, doodling and graffiti work also comes as a form of healing as drawing goes help with anxiety and definitely helps one to destress. Through my design's atmosphere and layout, I will be walking the user's through all these 3 activities which will hopefully help these artists not feel neglected.
