The “Enōsi” project was born from research on Mods culture, which immediately fascinated me: young English people with a rebellious spirit, born during the economic boom, members of the middle class or working class. The Mods did not take political or social barriers into account : the distinction was only a matter of style.
Appreciators of beauty and true Fashion Icons, they transformed the road into a real catwalk, obsessively perfecting their look, bordering on the bizarre, an element that also appears on their cars. Italianness was a very strong element in modernist culture: the tailored suits were Italian, the most fashionable among the young Mods; their motorbikes, the Vespa and the Lambretta, were Italian, modified, "rigged", super accessorized to attract the attention of anyone who passed by them.
I wanted to reinterpret the modernist look, analyzing the two fundamental elements that compose it: the jacket and trousers suit and the overcoat.
Inspired by the rebellious and youthful vision typical of the mods, and by that vaguely sporty taste that results from the combinations of styles and garments visible in the photographs of the original Mods and in the various scenes of Quadrophenia, I revised the typical structure of the jacket-trousers suit, which is rejuvenates", shortening, in the cut of the sleeves or trousers, taking on a more sporty and "relaxed" look.
The name Enōsi refers to the patchwork technique and the English flag, the "Union Jack", which inspired the structural cuts on the garments. The word enōsis, in fact, derives from the ancient Greek ένωση (énōsī) and literally means “union” and is the classical Greek word for mystical “unity”, “union” or “oneness”. In the garments of the capsule collection I mixed different fabrics, creating new designs and structural cuts, taking inspiration from the English world that I was already tackling through the study of Mod culture, in particular the design of the flag of the United Kingdom, and the flags that made it up .
English inspiration also pervades the choice of prints, patterns and fabrics: yarn-dyed tartans and princes of Wales or created specifically on the computer, on Photoshop and then printed, with the help of Ratti S.p.A. in the Como area, who created the prints on the fabrics.
