The poem “Why?” by Jenny Stebral is a dialogue between an adult and a child, both undergoing a grieving process after the death of a loved one.

Simultaneously, as the conversation unfolds and with the aid of affection and understanding, the characters begin to heal, almost imperceptibly.

Through the metaphorical story of a tree, the illustrations portray this healing process, unfolding slowly and subtly, similar to the processes of nature.
