Inspired by the aesthetics of ancient Japanese armor connections and modern geometric
constructed garments, I created this neckpiece to portray the idea of ‘Ancient Modernity’.
The present is always influenced by the past. By mixing elements from both worlds, the piece exists in its own time period of timelessness. I found it visually interesting when contrasting elements are presented along with each other. No matter it is the ancient and modern, the red and white or the hard and soft contrast, it creates endless conversation. It is surprising how harmony can be found in between contrasting elements and different worlds.
