Introduction
The first modern poster design by Jules Chéret, Orpheus in the underworld, gave a lot of meaning and influences in the era when the Romanticism and realistic art has been considered as a nobility and beauty in 19th century.

Arched fonts, pointed fonts that had not been used much before, and the unbalanced and emphasized proportions of figures and objects signaled the beginning of a new art by his first poster, “Orphée aux Enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld)”.

Project
I reinterpreted these meanings into 50 posters.
And the 50 reinterpretations are divided into three major frameworks.
These are arched design, pointed design, and elements within the poster.

Theme
This first modern poster was an art and poster design that everyone could access when expensive art was popular.
From this point of view, I designed with the theme of design that everyone can access.

-Arched Font / Shape

The bold poster design that Jules Chéret challenged in the 19th century is especially evident in the arched font on the poster. Unlike most 19th-century works, which were recognized as good design and for their artistic value only when everything was as close to real life as possible, this poster was a bold attempt to break those stereotypes and common notions. Arched shape was not only in the font, but also in the hat the character wears on the poster.

Inspired by its font, I deconstructed the design and make it as new inspirational pattern and applied them to the posters.

-Pointed Font / Shape

This abstract design, in the same sense as the arched font, deviated from the original form and added a sharp shape, was also a challenge that deviated from the original concept.

I explored these patterns and interpreted them into new patterns and designs. These new patterns serve as inspiration for various designs such as pattern not only in the poster, but also our living products such as blanket, pillow, and even in the car.
-Pattern by Inspiration in the Poster

I designed various patterns inspired by various elements such as  such as grapes, people, etc in the poster. Also, inspired by the content of the play, I was able to create a design that could create a dark world-like feeling.
