This project was for an online Skillshare course for creating custom vintage type. To be honest I didn't feel I learned much from the course but I enjoyed doing the work and am happy with the final result.
I decided to develop a logo around bikes, road or mountain, maybe a vintage bike brand, or a new shop, or custom shop. So I wanted and old school feel really.
I tried a few names and liked "Broken Spoke" so I went from there. My work is shown with the latest designs first then showing how it was developed.
Simple clean advert idea using final logo design.
I found this hand written type in my sketch book from a few years ago and decided it would make a cool advert, I felt the photo really captured the brand, the sense of freedom.
This is the final logo after reworking the smaller type, I wasn't happy with the orignal, it just looked out of place.

Playing around with the idea in illustrator to see if I can get the type and spokes to work together.
Stage 2 of sketching out ideas, ready to have a play on the computer now. I am wanting to develop a simple logo with a vintage feel, I think this will work if I can get the spacing of the letters right.
Very quick sketch ideas, I didn't want to spend too long on the name or inital ideas at this stage for fear of never getting started. I wanted to get something online for the class to be able to comment on so it felt like I wasn't the client and designer.
