Process:
The construction of this box began with a series of sketches and a Bristol board model, which then informed a prototype of handmade wooden hinges (below). These hinges use a dowel that is inserted into drilled holes on both sides of the hinge. Afterwards, the sides of the box were bandsaw cut and pieced together with finger joints. Then, the eight hinges finalized hinges were made and attached to the top of the box using wood glue, followed by sanding for a smooth finish. Wooden strips were added for easy opening access.
