Garip (Γκαρίπ) means “strange, bizarre, poor, foreigner, living abroad” in Turkish. Arabic originated word also owned by sufi dervishes. It is the name of a Mercan Dede song too. His songs giving me power while I'm burning. I wanted to share this mindset. We are naturally a dynamo, a sun burning from inside and with the heat we emit, even our bodies don't have clear borders.

“The time has come to turn your heart into a temple of fire. Your essence is gold hidden in dust. To reveal its splendor you need to burn in the fire of love.” - Rumi

Ecem (Ὲτζεμ) Dalgakiranlar is a Cypriot from Istanbul, later migrated to Athens. In the process of migration while they were battling with the feelings of loneliness, grief, guilt and longing they visited an ebru (εμπρού) workshop in Istanbul and fell in love with this ancient art which you paint on dense water. While preparing the pigments in their new home they found holy water in jars from the previous tenant (who was a Ukrainian stuck in a war zone). So they decided to add holly water to earth pigments and started to do this islamic art with the Tao’s principle: “do without doing”.
