This is a sketch from the Konark Sun Temple in West India. The temple stands of the coast of the Bay of Bengal and was built in the 13th Century AD. The entire temple is dedicated to the Sun God Surya, and is shaped like a gigantic chariot for the Sun. The whole temple is "drawn" by seven enormous horses, and stands on twelve wheels, representing the various portions of the zodiac. This is one of the wheels. This temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is in the Indian state of Odisha (or Orissa) about 100 kilometers from the state capitalof Bhubaneshwar.
