An exploration into the 3D potential of handmade paper. Abaca fibers were formed into wet sheets, pulp-stenciled with natural dyes, half-pressed via hydraulic press, and formed over a relaxed balloon.
With the abstracted tree-print design, and organic way in which the overlapped seams of paper tightened as they dried, this lamp highlights the natural characteristics of the translucent and incredibly strong abaca fiber by literally putting paper on a pedestal and making it brilliant.
