Technology Decal Mockup

For this assignment, everyone in class had to design something to go on some windows in order to keep people from walking into the glass. The client requested something with stripes, the district colors, and wanted the door to say either "technology support" or "help desk." I thought help desk was a little vague as it could refer to almost anything in a school setting, so I chose for the door to say "technology support" so it was clear what the room was for. I chose to put the stripes on the far right pane because I didn't want there to be a break in the word "TECHNOLOGY". I initially made my design say "TECHNOLOGY" by mistake because I began working before a design brief was given to us, but one of the graphic design teachers said he liked it since it was a different take on what the client wanted, so I decided to keep it this way. I also chose to make the word have a gradient because gradients seem to be pretty popular in designs like this. While I do like the design, I'm not very satisfied with how the mockup looks. It doesn't look convincing. I tried to resolve this by adding a drop shadow, some texture, and some soft lighting to make it look like the fluorescent ceiling lights were being reflected on the vinyl surface, which helped some, but the letters still look like they're suspended in space without being on anything, kind of like a video game that hasn't quite loaded all of the way.
