Six Creative Strategies
This is my first project in my ART235 class. We learned about the following six creative strategies: Combination/Juxtaposition, Isolation, Metaphor/Simile, Change of Context or Environment, Physical/Shape Similarity, and Material Change/Swap/Focus. We then had to select an everyday object to showcase each of these strategies.
My object is a ruler.
Strategy: Combination/Juxtaposition
Title: Ruler of the Land
Combining a ruler along with a King's robe and crown and using a play on words I've created a new kind of ruler.
Strategy: Isolation
Title: Measuring the Taste
I included a lone ruler mixed in with a batch of McDonald's french fries.
Strategy: Metaphor/Simile
Title: Measuring Happiness
Most people spend their lives doing what makes them happy, but can you measure happiness? Giving this beautiful girl a smile using a ruler shows how she measures her happiness.
Strategy: Change of Context or Environment
Title: Measuring the Walk Across the Street
In this change of context I have replaced the crosswalk lines with rulers.
Strategy: Physical/Shape Similarity
Title: Measuring the Sweetness
I replaced the popsicle stick with a wooden ruler.
Strategy: Material Change
Title: Fruit by the Foot
Changing the material of a ruler, I replaced it with food, a fruit by the foot rollup.
