After the success of the recent cycling festival in Jersey and ahead of the annual criterium race to be held toward the end of August in St Helier I was asked to create an identiy concept for the race. As a type of cycle race that is governed by an overall time limit I felt it was important to give a nod to the timing aspect which is what inspired the timing hand protruding from the cassette on the rear wheel element that accompanies the event name and date, as well as the shaded area that represents the passage of time. Where colour is involved, I try to ensure that an identity functions well in monochrome as well so that it can handle poor reproduction or single colour printing, such as in newspapers.
