While doing research on the image of a newborn baby’s amniotic bubble* in the context of Baltic mythology, an association with the amniotic sac has been made. The amniotic sac envelopes the foetus throughout the period of its development in the uterus. This leads to contemplation of apparel; not only is it a cultural phenomenon of artifact, but also a physiological phenomenon of human evolution which encompasses fluids, body tissues, microorganisms, and the processes involved. The whole symbiosis of the biological and cultural world leads us to a mythological level wherein the eternal story of feminine transformation is rooted. That is a sacral passage from the internal feminine space, that is, the womb, to the external world in which the person is being protected by the very force that enveloped him/her in the mysterious space that had given him/her the primal impulse of life and belongs to the element of water. Thus seemingly a plain phenomenon related to the microbiome of a human being, turning the daily wheel of birth is being reflected upon in the context of artistic research. The main focus is on the perspectives of biotextile.
This type of textile is created by a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast which is called Scoby. The process of fermentation takes place when bacteria and yeast feed on sugar and tea. These cultures survive only on mutual symbiosis and thus exist in a complex interrelated symbiosis. Scoby is the rug which could be grown at a preferable size called a ‘mother’. The Scoby ‘mother’ is nothing but a collection of living microorganisms that are sensitive to the surplus of warmth and cold. The symbiosis of bacteria and yeast form cellulose threads and weave together. The formation of the biofiber from which ‘laimės marškinėliai‘ had been made might be perceived as a ritualistic act of protection for those who have already been born into this world.

Nagrinėjant baltų mitologijoje sutinkamą naujagimio laimės marškinėlių įvaizdį, kilo asociacijos su amniono maišeliu, kuris gaubia vaisių jo augimo gimdoje metu. Ši sąsaja inspiruoja apmąstymus apie aprengimą ne tik kaip kultūrinį, su artefaktais susijusį, bet ir kaip fiziologinį, žmogaus vystymosi raidos nulemtą reiškinį, apimantį skysčius, kūno audinius, mikroorganizmus bei juos lydinčius procesus. Visa ši biologinio ir kultūrinio pasaulio simbiozė išveda į mitologinį lygmenį, kuriame įsitvirtinęs amžinasis pasakojimas apie moteriškąjį virsmą. Tai sakralinis perėjimas iš vidinės moters erdvės - įsčių, į išorinio pasaulio aplinką, kuriame žmogus saugomas tos jėgos, kuri jį gaubė slėpiningame, gyvybinį impulsą suteikusioje erdvėje, priklausančioje vandens stichijai. Taigi iš pirmo žvilgsnio įprastas, kasdienį gyvybės ratą sukantis, su žmogaus mikrobiomu susijęs reiškinys apmąstomas meninio tyrimo kontekste, svarbiausią dėmesį sutelkiant į biotekstilės teikiamas perspektyvas.
Tai tekstilė, kuriama simbiotinės bakterijų ir mielių kultūros, vadinamos Scoby. Fermentacijos procesas vyksta bakterijoms ir mielėms mintant cukrumi bei arbata. Šios padermės išgyvena tik priklausydamos viena nuo kitos, tad egzistuoja sudėtingoje, viena kitą palaikančioje simbiozėje. Scoby yra bakterinės celiuliozės kilimėlis, kurį galima išauginti iki norimo dydžio, kuris vadinamas "motina". Scoby "motina" - tai gyvų mikroorganizmų, kurie yra jautrūs šilumos ir šalčio pertekliui, kolekcija. "Motina" užaugina bakterinės celiuliozės "vaikelį" per vieną arba dvi savaites. Bakterijų ir mielių simbiozė sukuria celiuliozės siūlus ir audžia drauge. Šio bioaudeklo auginimą, iš kurio buvo siūnami laimės marškinėliai, galima apmąstyti kaip moters atliekamą ritualinį veiksmą, skirtą suteikti tolimesnę apsaugą tiems, kurie jau atėjo į šį pasaulį.
